Public dashboard links stopped working? Here's what might have happened! [Tip #49 Carolina from Support]

Recently, a customer reached out to us with a very common question: public dashboard links (Share Public) suddenly stopped working. We’ve put together an explanation and solution to help anyone who might run into the same issue!

The “Share Public” feature for dashboards is completely linked to the anonymous user configured in your account.

If your public link has stopped working, it’s likely because:

  • The anonymous user you had configured was deactivated; or

  • Some IAM permission was accidentally changed.

If this happens to you, I recommend checking your anonymous user settings and verifying:

  1. Whether the dashboard in question has the same tag configured in the anonymous user’s IAM.

  2. Whether the correct dashboard ID is allowed in the IAM permissions.
