TagoIO MCP - AI-Powered IoT Data Integration

Today, we’re excited to announce the TagoIO Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server, a powerful new integration that connects AI models and development tools directly to your TagoIO environment. This breakthrough enables ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, and other AI-powered tools to access your IoT data, devices, and platform resources in real-time—transforming how you build and manage IoT solutions.

Transform Complex Tasks into Simple Conversations

The MCP Server eliminates the friction between your IoT data and AI capabilities. What previously required manual exports, API calls, and context switching now happens through natural language:

“Show all humidity sensors that dropped below 30% in the past 48 hours”

“Compare energy consumption across every smart meter this month”

“Draft an Analysis script to trigger maintenance when vibration variance exceeds 15%”

Each request executes directly against your live TagoIO environment, returning real-time results that AI models can immediately process, analyze, and act upon.

Key Capabilities at a Glance

  • Direct IoT Data Access: Query device readings, user information, and system logs instantly within AI conversations

  • Intelligent Analytics: Generate statistical reports, identify anomalies, and calculate KPIs from live data

  • Context-Aware Development: Build TagoIO Analysis scripts with full awareness of your devices, tags, and configurations

  • Universal Compatibility: Works seamlessly with ChatGPT, Claude Desktop, VS Code, Cursor, Windsurf, and any MCP-compatible tool

For detailed installation instructions and configuration options, visit our MCP Server documentation.

The addition of a MCP server to TagoIO is a game changer! I just created a useful report in minutes based on the information of the sensors in my account.

I am using Claude and getting great results. Thanks guys!

TagoIO MCP Server v2.0.0 is out with some key improvements for IoT developers.

The main additions are:

  1. Full CRUD operations for devices

  2. Analysis token support for better access management

  3. A new Profile Service for capturing usage metrics.

  4. We’ve also added Analysis console access so you can check logs directly through the MCP interface

  5. Plus better filtering and ordering parameters for your AI agents and clients.

You can find the full setup guide and documentation at https://github.com/tago-io/mcp-server

As a developer/admin the MCP support is very useful and is a great new tool to have in our toolbox.

What would be most impactful for us would be to extend this capability to TagoRUN users. For example, leverage some form of AI mechanism to enable natural language query regarding trends, anomalies for their specific user data.

An admin can make such natural language queries using MCP + external AI tool today, but is there a way to make such capabilities available to end users on a Blueprint Dashboard?

Hi Steven!

Thanks for your feedback!
We don’t have a set date for TagoRUN AI support yet, but it’s on the list for next year’s roadmap.

We’ll keep everyone posted as we get closer
