How to handle multiple devices without creating individual blueprints [Tip #50 Carolina from Support]

Hey y’all! Carolina from support here!! Today a client reached out with an interesting question, and I thought it would be helpful to share the tip with the community :upside_down_face:

If you’re working with many devices and find yourself manually creating a blueprint device for each one, there’s a more efficient approach:

Instead of creating individual blueprints, you can configure a single virtual device to receive data from all your devices. The key is to use a group variable to identify which device sent each piece of data, similar to how it’s done in RTLS solutions.

This way, you can capture specific data like temperature from all devices while still knowing exactly which device each reading came from.

This method saves time and simplifies your workflow, especially when dealing with large fleets of devices.

Hope this tip helps other community members too!

Cheers,
