Backup your data on TagoIO Files [Tip #18 Carolina from Support]

Hi y’all, Carolina from support here again

Today I have not just one tip, but a few!!

You can use the “Backup to Files” option directly from the device’s Data tab to export all data to your TagoIO Files storage! This is a perfect way to build a full historical archive without manual effort.

What it does: Exports all data from the selected device directly into your Files storage. You can also customize the file path using templates to organize by device and date (e.g., device/$DEVICE$/$FROM$_$TO$.csv). Overwriting a file replaces its contents. You can have more information about this here.

This is the best for: Regular snapshots and automated archives of device data. For Immutable devices, Backup to Files is managed via Chunk Management where you can select specific chunks and use the same file address variables and header options.

Here we go with a pro tip: you can use File Address Template variables to auto-organize by device and period:

$DEVICE$ (device ID), $FROM$ (chunk start), $TO$ (chunk end), $CHUNK$ (chunk ID)

Example: device/$DEVICE$/$FROM$_$TO$ → /device/6297aa7691e70a00654f9816/2022-04-01_2022-06-30.csv

Another important tip: exporting uses the Data Output service. Large exports can consume quota quickly! So, it is good to consider chunk selection or filtering where applicable
